QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE ARE SET TO ROCK POHODA 2025

The American rock band Queens of the Stone Age is the latest major international act confirmed for next year’s Pohoda Festival. Regarded by critics as one of the best live bands in history, the five-piece will make their debut in Slovakia at Trenčín Airport.

Queens of the Stone Age

Queens of the Stone Age formed in 1996 following the breakup of Kyuss, the former band of frontman Josh Homme. Since the early days, the band has included renowned musicians such as Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters, vocalist Mark Lanegan, and drummer Joey Castillo. Today, alongside Josh Homme, the band members include Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita, and Jon Theodore.

Never following mainstream trends, Queens of the Stone Age have instead crafted a distinctive, easily recognisable sound. They’re pioneers of the stoner rock genre, which fuses elements of psychedelic rock, blues rock, classic heavy metal, and doom metal. Their influence on rock music is undeniable, and their albums are often considered key works in the genre. Homme is also a highly respected music producer, having worked with Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood, and Iggy Pop—who is also set to perform at Pohoda 2025.

Queens of the Stone Age have released eight studio albums to date and have earned nine Grammy nominations, including two recent ones for In Times New Roman… in the categories of Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song. Known for their powerful stage presence, heavy guitar riffs, and hypnotic atmosphere that envelops the audience, they are widely regarded as one of the greatest live bands. Pohoda’s organisers are confident that they will prove this to all who attend Pohoda 2025. “Queens of the Stone Age are one of our team’s favourite rock bands. Personally, I consider their song “No One Knows” one of the greatest rock songs of all time. I’m very happy that, after being unable to perform at Pohoda 2024, they’ll return at the next possible date. I believe their Saturday concert will be a true celebration for all Pohoda fans,” adds Michal Kaščák from Pohoda.

The 28th edition of Pohoda Festival will take place from 10–12 July 2025 at Trenčín Airport. Alongside Queens of the Stone Age, other confirmed acts include Iggy Pop, Fontaines D.C., JPEGMAFIA, Joey Valence & Brae, Bambie Thug, Blondshell, and Barcelona Gipsy BalKan Orchestra. More artists for Pohoda 2025 will be announced in the coming days on the festival’s website, pohodafestival.sk, and social media channels.
